ABOUT ME

My name is Emma Laimo and I am currently a senior at SUNY Oneonta studying Fashion and Textiles with a Merchandising concentration along with a minor in Women’s and Gender studies.

I have been studying at Oneonta since fall of 2021 and I am set to graduate in spring of 2025. I have years of experience in the industry starting in 2019 where I worked as a sales associate for Tilly’s learning the importance of good customer service. Throughout college, I worked as an associate at Pacsun where I led ship from store orders, closing procedures and being on the team for Inventory nights. Along with that, I worked as a teaching assistant for the Fashion Promotion course for the 2024 spring semester. I got to work with Dr.Portway to build the class brightspace using HTML, assist students outside/inside the classroom, and hold office hours. During the Summer of 2024 I worked as a showroom intern at Goods and Services NYC where I got to work closely with the sales representatives during June market week, dress models, and learn how to use the software Joor.

I have cultivated many skills throughout my working experience and time at SUNY Oneonta. I expanded my technology skills through working with HTML coding, WordPress, Office 365, and Photoshop. Along with that, I have gained leadership and communication skills through working with many different people on group projects, troubleshooting with partners, and working with other students during my time as a teaching assistant. I am passionate about fashion merchandising and the importance of the visual. I have experience with this during my internship when merchandising shipments of the collections for buyer meetings. Along with setting up visual display cases for my Advanced Fashion Merchandising course, and styling mannequin outfits for Tillys. I think the visual aspect inside the retail store or on the website is just as important to sales as the garments themselves.
